FCA Endurance

New 2020 Mission, Vision, Values

We've renewed the vision and mission statements for the Central Illinois huddle of FCA Endurance for 2020. Here they are:

Vision: To see Central Illinois endurance athletes impacted by our love and compassion for them in Jesus Christ.
Mission: To join Jesus Christ in His mission to seek and save the lost.
Values: Courage, Conviction, and Community in Christ

As Christians, we are ordinary people who have been given the extrodinary power of the Holy Spirit to continue the Lord Jesus' mission to fulfill the Great Commission, which reads as follows: "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:17-20

In my own life, too often I give in to the false idea that going to Church with my family is enough. After all, I am saved, my loved ones are saved, and I lose interest in the eternal destiny of others. To put it in truly sobering terms that are as metaphorical as they are literal, the implications of this attitude is "to hell with the rest." That is not any Christian's intent, but I wouild venture to guess that most of you, like me, want to do more in our daily lives to reach out to a dying world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Acknowledging that others need God just as much as I do is the beginning of an adventure that has eternal consequences. It's something that I have to renew in my heart every day.

So join me in 2020 to go beyond the walls of our churches to minister to a world that needs God's Love and Saving Grace. Don't let apathy or fear keep us from pressing on in His mission. Equip yourself to become an ambassador for Christ, and bloom where you're planted. If you're an endurance athlete, then you'll find yourself alongside teammates, training buddies, and club members that offer workouts and other scheduled events. Why not be available, be trained, and be ready to witness when the Lord brings up an opportunity? That is what FCA Endurance in Central Illinois is gearing you for.

What does it mean to witness? It simply means that we point to Christ through our actions, attitudes, and works. In other words, what we say and what we do can have an everlasting impact on others' lives.

We are all called to carry Jesus' mission in this world. And like any mission, you will get the most out of it when you train. So join us and get equipped to answer any question about your faith with confidence, humility, and grace.
